Swordfighting in Rijswijk

At Wapenkunst Academie Rijswijk, you can learn historical swordfighting (HEMA) in a structured club environment with a group, or through private swordfighting lessons. Our swordfighting classes in Rijswijk are based on historical sources and focus on correct technique, movement and control. We teach longsword, langes messer and battlefield weapons and welcome both beginners and experienced fencers. Learn swordfighting in a club

  • Train together, grow together. Our weekly swordfighting group sessions focus on building core skills through drills, partner work, and sparring with swords— all guided by structured progression and historical sources.

    Highlights:

    • Open to all levels (beginners welcome!)

    • 2h sessions

    • Safe, supportive environment with personalized feedback

  • We offer lessons in the following disciplines:

    Coached Sparring Training:

    • Mondays, from 8.30PM to 9.30PM (intensive training)

    Langes Messer:

    • Wednesdays, from 7PM to 9PM

    Longsword:

    • Thursdays, from 7PM to 9PM

    Battlefield Weapons (greatsword, polearms, armoured combat):

    • Fridays, from 7PM to 9PM

    Most of our students attend several trainings during the week- the more, the better!

  • Monthly membership is available in 4 tiers:

    • 32,50€ for 1 training a week

    • 45€ for 2 trainings a week

    • 57,50€ for 3 trainings a week

    • 70€ for 4 trainings a week

    Additionally, every membership tier enables:

    • access to loaner gear (no need to buy gear from the start)

    • access to community events (get-togethers, trips, etc.)

    • discount and priority sign-up for events organized by WAR (tournaments, workshops with internationally- renowned guest instructors)

    • discount on purchasing gear from vendors cooperating with WAR

Private swordfighting lessons

  • One-on-one swordfighting instruction tailored to your goals. Whether you're just starting or want to refine your skills before the tournament, private fencing lessons help you progress faster with focused attention.

    • 60-minute sessions (longer available on request)

  • Cost per lesson is 75€ and includes:
